Graduate Student Summer GRA

The Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences, together with participating faculty and departments, is holding its annual Competition for the Summer GRA in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences. GRAs will be awarded in the amount $4,800 each for Summer 2013 (June through August)!

Applicant eligibility: Applicants must be matriculated graduate students at the Ohio State University working with faculty who are Members of the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS).  Former recipients of GRAs are eligible, but priority will be given to new applicants. Applicants who are not members of the Center will be nominated as members in the CCBS (see the application form).

Applications: The 2013 Summer GRA in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences Application must include:

• Completed application Application form
• Applicant’s curriculum vitae
• 2-page proposal of the interdisciplinary project

Proposal guidelines:The applicant is required to submit a 2-page proposal with the Application.  The proposal should have specific, focused goals, and discuss the interdisciplinary nature and benefits of the project.  The proposal will be evaluated by faculty outside the applicant’s area.

Project guidelines:Proposed projects will be interdisciplinary and relevant to the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences.  Applicant’s proposed project is to involve a Member of the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences, outside of the applicant’s Home department, who will be known as the Visiting department advisor.

Stipend:Recipient will receive a stipend of $1,600 per month, June through August, for a total of $4,800. 

Fees and Tuition:Tuition and fees (when applicable) will be paid by the home department, visiting department, or a combination of the two.

Award announcement: Awards will be announced by May 15, 2013

Award agreement: Recipients will be notified of the award by letter, with copies to their advisors.  Recipients will be required to present their findings to the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences.  Submission of the results for a presentation at the 2014 Annual Meeting of Cognitive Science Society is encouraged. All recipients are to credit the Center for support on follow-up papers and projects related to the funded project.
