Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

My research centers around interdisciplinary knowledge discovery science of interactive visual computing. I direct the OSU Interactive Visual Computing Lab. I design and study new visualization techniques and interactive metaphors to augment scientists' ability to explore vast amount of data on desktop or immersive virtual environments. Our current methods combine cognitive and perceptual experiments and mathematical modeling. The lab website provides more detail on some current research projects and my team. See the google scholar page for my publications. My team has successfully designed both spatial and non-spatial data visualizations for physicists, biologists, and neurologists.
