My research centers on school-age children's and adolescents' cognitive and social-emotional development, particularly high-level thinking skills, perspective taking, and ability to collaborate with others. I design innovative curricula and instructional approaches in content areas (e.g., language arts, social studies) to foster these important competencies in schools. I also conduct observational, survey, or mixed methods research to identify interpersonal and intrapersonal factors that mediate students' development.
