Leslie C. Moore is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. She earned her doctorate in Applied Linguistics at UCLA, after which she was a postdoctoral fellow in Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, funded at both institutions by the National Science Foundation. Her major areas of expertise are second language acquisition and language socialization. Dr. Moore’s research examines the patterning of language and literacy development in communities whose members use multiple languages and participate in religious and secular schooling. She is particularly interested in attention, repetition, and memorization in learning (in) second languages. Dr. Moore has conducted research in northern Cameroon and currently works with Somalis in Central Ohio.
